As part of my ongoing coach work I decided up upgrade battery connections. I was using a Cole Hersee solenoid for my house battery disconnect, tied to the switch by the entry step to the coach. The chassis battery was on 24/7. Well, this is now changed.

I had issues over the years with a small amount (very small) of parasitic drain on the chassis battery, as well as problems with the Cole Hersee solenoid - there is a known problem with some models of this solenoid having bad contacts over time. This happened to me. I modified to a solenoid cutoff setup as I was previously using two 6V golf cart batteries for the house and had to rewire the original battery connections to accommodate. So, with the latest iteration in wiring I went with the Intellitec electric solenoid (zero drain setup) for the house battery, and rewired the coach so the switch by the door now disconnects the chassis battery. So... I can shut both batteries completely off now for storage. I like the capability of being able to do that. The Intellitec product looks like a good design. And everything interfaced up OK with my Link 1000 battery monitor. There is a new control panel on the wood wall by the refrigerator for the Intellitec disconnect.

I now use an AGM 8D battery for the house and an AGM 34 battery for the chassis. The AGM chassis battery was a blem which I purchased for $75 from a battery store in Orlando, mfd. by East Penn. Sometimes blem batteries can be a kickass deal.

I'll put up a pic or two when I get the coach back as it's still in the shop.

Eric
