I just bought an Atlas 412 4-post lift. I bought it because I'm not getting younger, but I still want to keep tinkering. The nice thing is that I can get my flatnose on it.

I have to sell a Unimog, but after that, I can put the Revcon on the lift and remove all the belly pans. I've been wanting to this since the beginning, but the idea of rolling around on my back to drill out a half-a-million rivets was not an option.

I'm pretty excited because I'll easily be able to run better fuel send and return lines for the EFI I have plans to put on, and get to wires that have corroded.... It's going to be VERY nice, indeed.

I didn't touch it last year, but this year is looking to be a great year for progress on the motorhome. What's more is that I'm seriously looking into getting a 3D printer. This means there's the possibility of making custom plastic parts like the dash and such. Many of these 3D printers can also be used as a 3D router and CNC machine. I might even find someone with a 3D scanner that can scan the handles and a number of other parts that I'm missing. If it can do half the things I have in my head, it's going to be GREAT fun.

I was also surprised that if I was to remove the stove/oven, and keep the total weight of the coach under 10,000 including passengers, I could register it as a 'passenger vehicle'. I'm not sure that I could actually meet that requirement (some cops carry scales), but it's an interesting thought.

I guess this is all to say... I may be forgotten, but I'm not gone. :)

I'm picking it up today so I have to rent a 26' Uhaul and drive an hour each way. Greg Smith has been great to work with. I'll unload it in the garage (in my wife's bay) then decide how much more fun I can take (physically). I'm sure adrenaline will kick in so I should be done tonight. heh

On a side note, I'm getting 6000 lb bridge jacks. The way I see it, if I have a motorhome under 12k lb, then I can drive it over the runways and let the front drop off. Then I can lift the longer wheelbase vehicle with the jacks before lifting with the 4-post lift. The way I see it, any vehicle I can safely lift with bridge jacks (lifting from appropriate places) Should be able to be lifted by the lift. So..... Dave... Give me a few days, then come on over. I love to see a Prince 5 feet in the air. I'm sure I owe you some bear or stronger anyway, and we can talk more about the EFI I haven't started yet :)

And slightly off topic, I'm finding that the 3D printers I'm looking at can print dash pieces, intake tubes and hats, and all kinds of fantastic stuff.

At this point, I'm thinking I'm going to invite people over just to see their vehicles go up and down. :) Talk about dreams. This is one I thought I'd never see

Very nice! I wish I had the room and facilities to have a lift, however it looks like I will be forever at the mercy of the local RV shop using ramps & floor jacks. The only two places I found locally that had a lift that would be willing to lift the coach are the local truck maintenance dealer that does "some" chassis service, and a transmission shop. The transmission shop's lift motor went out a couple of years ago and they went cheap on the rebuild - not enough weight capacity any more for the coach. :x

Dig a pit underneath. That is what I use. Its normal parking spot is on a hill. I leveled it off with RR ties, which leaves a good sized hole underneath. Space is about 2 feet below the tires. You have to crawl, but at least it is functional.

I used a shallow pit for years. Used the pit with jack-stands, too. While it's true that I've got virtually no side room, you gotta admit, that's pretty cool. A Unimog 6' in the air????? Yea, I think it's pretty cool.

I gotta get this truck preped to sell, then I can get my flatnose up there. I'm pretty excited about pulling all the belly pans.

And yes, I have an oil leak along with rainwater.
