Post subject:  Flatnose fuel tank problem

Hi folks, new to Revcon MH, purchased a '77 290 sight unseen, flew to LA and drove it back to 10,000ft in Breckenridge, CO. Quite the trip, story for another time! Repaired several things, runs great, but I have a problem with fuel tank. I'm hesitant to pull the tank for fear of causing more trouble. My problem is when I put fuel in tank, unless I fuel very slowly, fuel comes from the top of tank and runs on the ground, also I get no fuel to genset, plus the fuel gauge is inop. I've tried to find a diagram of fuel tank, no luck. Any info would greatly appreciated! Is there an access door to top of tank? Thanks!

You probably are going to have to pull the tank and replace all the fuel lines. The problem is that modern gas eats the old fuel lines, as they were never designed to have alcohol run through them. If I had to bet money, the fuel line feeding the generator is probably split, which is why it won't run. When you fill the tank quickly, the pressure in the tank forces fuel out the pickup for the generator. On an old machine, pretty much anything with rubber will need to be replaced - especially fuel lines.

Thanks, I have been regretting that! Just was hoping a miracle "easy" repair! Actually knew better! Thanks again, Bob.
