Okay... So the service manual states 450 foot pounds for the front wheel lug nuts. Come on! I am not going to torque the nuts to this torque. The bolts would break off going down the road. Does anybody have better tech info than this?

Thanks.

I believe that is known to be accurate. It is an odd size bolt pattern with a very high load rating. Basically the load rating is approaching Semi-truck tires, except that it only uses 5 lugs instead of 10 like a normal semi-truck tire.

daveinet,

Thank you for responding. I trust your response and I believe the reason for such high torque, but it just seems like things will break off when that much torque is applied. I think our '73 revy requires an alignment. In a nut shell, my wife and I purchased this recon from the previous owner in central California and we trailered it all the way back to the Portland, Oregon area....at 48 mph the whole way back. It was a 25 foot 250 on a 22 foot flat bed trailer.
